RATEL's Participation in the SecurePath Conference 2018

The SecurePath Conference, dedicated to information systems security, was organized by SAGA company and held on March 27, 2018. Dr. Vladica Tintor, Director of RATEL, presented the role, competencies and responsibilities of the National CERT of the Republic of Serbia with respect to the prevention of security risks in ICT systems, as stipulated by the current cybersecurity framework. The Register of Special CERTs, kept by the national CERT’s competence, and incident managing procedures through cooperation and coordination with national competent institutions, were also presented at the conference.

Highlighting the importance of international cooperation, the Director announced RATEL’s future plans in this field, with membership in international cyber security organizations being one of the priorities. National CERT has already been listed with Trusted Introducer, and meeting the requirements for joining the global Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST) is the next step. The creation of the National CERT’s website, with an integrated incident reporting system, is expected in the near future.

Other lecturers at the Conference were M. Joerg Stephan, a security consultant with IBM, Dr. Dragan Pleskonjić, information security director at IGT company and Dr. Milan Kukrika, a professor at the University of Belgrade. The main topics were the analyses of previous attacks against ICT systems and possible future attacks prediction capacities, application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in ICT systems protection and implementation of personal data protection systems. Representatives of the Ministry of Interior’s CERT presented their experiences in this field.
