The fourth workshop within the project "Empowering local governments in information security regulation implementation" organized by RATEL, NALED, the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications (MTTT) and the Office for Information Technologies and eGovernment was held in Belgrade on December 6th.

Participants from 19 local governments were acquainted with the requirements defined by the information security regulations, in addition to the Model of Act on security, prepared during 2017 by the National CERT as a means of support to the operators of ICT systems of special importance. The significance of application and monitoring of implemented measures under the Law on Information Security was specially highlighted. The IT security inspector from the MTTT, Marija Popović, talked about the scope of the Ministry’s competences, explaining the principles of monitoring and an efficient implementation of the legally prescribed measures.

Zoran Mišić, deputy director of the Office for Information Technologies and eGovernment, presented novelties in the field of e-government, including the development plan for electronic services both on republic and local levels.

With this workshop closes the campaign "Active and Safe on the Internet", launched in October by RATEL, i.e. the National CERT, marking the European and global Cyber Security Month. The aim of the campaign was to promote the importance of information security to citizens, state organizations, public and private companies, raise awareness and change behavioral patterns, by providing basic information to all Internet users about available and recommended protection measures to be taken on the Internet. During this campaing, several workshops and seminars were organized for the media and SME representatives and members of local self-governments.

Within the first phase of the project realized by RATEL in cooperation with NALED, the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications and the Office for Information Technologies and eGovernment, a seminar titled "Empowering local self-governments in implementation of information security regulation" was held in four cities: Kragujevac, Niš, Novi Sad and Belgrade, and attended by 141 participants from 79 local self-government units.

During the secong phase of the project, following a successful training on the System for cyber attack simulation in Kragujevac, the workshops will continue to take place in Niš, Novi Sad and Belgrade, with a focus on HR capacity improvements. The training is intended for system administrators employed at the local self-governments and is conducted in cooperation with NALED.
